These sweet stories made for comfortable bedtime reading even though the photo above was taken in the sunshine. Short chapters each contain a story, and they each help the reader imagine herself or himself inside of the story. Language is used in such a way that the reader can overlay personal interpretations into the passages.

I particularly appreciated the chapters that reflect on the Christ child and His message to humanity. One particular passage reads,

“It is as if the Christ Himself came forth to each one of us, looked us in the eyes and He laid his Hand upon our hearts and said: ‘Go forth unto all the world and Be my Light. Speak my Word, carry forth my healing, bring forth my Peace. I am asking you to go in my behalf, and live a life that is pure and holy, that God may be glorified’. “

These stories, illustrated with love and interspersed with thoughtful quotes and prayers from scripture and saints, are ones that encourage positive thinking and abundance. Written for a broad spiritual audience, this book offers for the Christian reader another perspective on what it means to be truly open to God’s love.

This message is both empowering and expansive. Is that not what so many of us are trying to do---to live a life that is pure and holy and to make a home for God in our hearts? According to St. Pio of Pietrelcina, “It is sufficient for us to know that God is our God and that our heart is his home.”

May your day be blessed.

(St. Pio quote was taken from p. 348 of another book with short stories about faith that I would recommend for bedtime/morning reading: _Pray, Hope, and Don’t Worry: True Stories of Padre Pio Book 1_, compiled by Diane Allen)
